2001 NAB Highlights Video

Project Description
Create a video program that showcases the
35mm film-like look and feel of 24p high definition video, to be used both as a promotional tool of 24fps Productions' producing/directing capabilities, and the rental services offered by Air Sea Land Productions.

Solution
The three-day shoot took place in January, 2001 in Nassau, Bahamas - the same location that was used for last year's HD shoot.

By developing several reciprocal content-for-services barter arrangements, the videos were produced for a fraction of the cost of last year's piece. These relationships included the following companies:

The Creative Group - Post Production/Editing support services

Stuart Cove's Dive South Ocean - Location Support

(For a complete list of credits, see below)

Results
"The end result really speaks for itself. Those unfamiliar with the piece were amazed to realize it's not 35mm film. The saturation, resolution, aspect ratio, and motion blur together create an experience that's rather extraordinary. 24p high definition video creates an emotional response that was - until now - only the domain of film." - Thomas Strodel, 24fps Productions.

Media
16:9 HDTV, using the SONY HDW-F900 HD-CAM and the Amphibico Amphibian HD Marine Video Housing

Audience
Attendees to the 2003 NAB convention in Las Vegas, Infocom 2003 convention attendees, and clients and potential clients interested in 24p high definition video production and production cervices.

Use/Exposure

The NAB convention in Las Vegas this past April was a tremendous opportunity for exposure of the videos. Nine different companies licensed the videos (both this year's 24p videos and last year's 60i piece) for use in their booth displays.

Additional Information - Notes
The web is somewhat limited in terms of being able to show these videos in their truest color, resolution, and clarity. To get the full effect, you would need to see these on a high definition television monitor. However, VHS and Mini-DV do a superb job as well. If you're interested in seeing these videos in VHS or Mini-DV format, or are interested in licensing this content in it's native HD format, drop us a line.
